Governor General Fergusson inspects Cook Islands troops

Governor-General Sir Charles Fergusson and Resident Commissioner Judge Ayson inspect a guard of honour of returned servicemen in Avarua, Rarotonga, 3 May 1926.

During his official visit to the Cook Islands, the Governor-General unveiled the Cook Islands Roll of Honour Boards at the Avarua courthouse. These had been funded by money collected from all the islands of the Cooks group. Sir Charles also opened a Soldiers’ War Memorial Park in Avarua in which he and his wife planted trees.
