Lieutenant Cyprian Bridge fought at Puketutu in May 1845. His watercolour shows British soldiers and a group of allied Māori attacking the pā near Lake Ōmāpere (visible at right). At the far end of the lakeshore, soldiers scale a slope behind the wooden-palisaded pā, which is shown in the middle distance at left.
