Karori Normal School choir, 1989

The 53 standard three and four children of the Karori Normal School choir on the stairs of the Michael Fowler Centre, Wellington after singing at the conference of the Computer Society. That year there was a major shake-up of the education system following the publication of the Picot Report and the initiation of the government’s Tomorrow’s Schools programme. The regional Education Boards were abolished and a leaner Ministry of Education replaced the Department of Education .
