Waihi workers union hall

Image

The Miners and Workers Union Hall in Waihi. One night strike-breakers painted patriotic symbols and slogans on the building. The next morning the strikers changed 'God Save the King' to 'God Save J B King', a reference to the American Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) activist who had recently been at Waihi.
