Waiuta School

Image

With three classrooms and a ‘murder house’ (dental room), Waiuta School was as well equipped as any in the country during the 1930s. Its pupils were surely better shod than most too, reflecting the fact that working miners were comparatively well paid. If there seem to be more senior girls than boys, it could be because there were better job prospects for the lads.
