Part two of The royal tour of New Zealand 1953-54 starts at the Bell Block dairy factory and civic welcome at New Plymouth on 9 January 1954. We then move down to Wellington, where the Queen opened Parliament and visited the Hutt Valley and Wairarapa before returning to the capital. The royal couple then flew from Paraparaumu airport to Woodbourne, visited Blenheim and flew on to Nelson and the West Coast. From Greymouth they travelled by train to Christchurch, where they attended the races at Addington on 21 January.
