Ellen Vickers Howell contributed an article entitled "Progress of the Woman" to a City of Christchurch publication marking the coronation of George V on June 22nd, 1911. Her's was among 17 contributions, several others by women e.g. Jessie Mackay an article, "The Iron Crown of Empire", Alice Candy's on "Foreign Policy", Blanche E. Baughan's on British Exploration. Editor of the publication was Professor J. Hight, Litt D, the much respected historian who wrote several of the articles. (I have a copy of the publication as my lawyer uncle A.T. Donnelly contributed a piece on the rise of British democracy).
