Farming locality in the upper valley of the Taieri River, 15km south of Ranfurly.
Meaning of place name
A personal name of Ngāti Momoe origins. The name was also applied to the Patearoa station which was owned by William Henry Valpy, who was told the Patearoa was the name of the Rock and Pillar range.
