Farming locality 25km north-west of Timaru.
Meaning of place name
When the railway line was extended from Pleasant Point to Albury, a name was needed for the station. It was proposed to call it Bailechruick, but as this was thought too difficult to pronounce, it was named after an early resident, Alexander Sutherland.
