Clevedon Hall rolls of honour

Memorial Memorial

The Clevedon School South African War roll of honour lists five former pupils of the school who served in the South African War. A total of nine men from the wider district served in that war, all of whom returned safely.

It is not known when the roll of honour was unveiled at the school, but for some years it has hung in the Clevedon Community Hall.

As early as August 1915 the Clevedon School headmaster proposed compiling a First World War roll of honour. The ‘Clevedon Public School Roll of Honour 1914 – 1918’ as eventually unveiled listed 76 names. This roll of honour also hangs in the Clevedon hall.

The school's Second World War roll of honour is now held in the Clevedon Historical Society's museum at McNicol Homestead.
