The first detachment of long-service men to be given furlough, shortly after their arrival in Auckland on 6 October 1918.
Nearly all of the six officers and 55 men had left the country with the Main Body in October 1914. By early November most of them had returned to camp after enjoying 28 days’ leave on full pay.
