Matapōuri roll of honour

Matapōuri roll of honour

The original Matapōuri roll of honour was reportedly put into storage around the time that the old Matapōuri hall was demolished in 1970. It was subsequently lost or destroyed. Thanks largely to the efforts of local resident Jennifer Wilson-Stewart, a new roll of honour was compiled and unveiled in the present hall on 25 January 2014. It is a polished kauri slab inscribed with the names and service numbers of 15 local First World War servicemen, three of whom died or were killed during the war.
