The Ratapiko School memorial flagpole honours local men A.A. Gannaway, R.I. Hill and L.G. Knight, who gave their lives during the Second World War. The first two names and those of C. Schultz and T. Putt are listed on the plainly-made wooden roll of honour inside the school, along with 24 others who also served.
The Ratapiko roll of honour in the local hall was destroyed when the hall burnt down in 2003. The names are listed on the ‘Ratapiko Hall’ entry on Kete New Plymouth.
