Rolls of honour in the Public Service Journal

Rolls of honour in the Public Service Journal

Rolls of honour listing the names of killed, wounded or missing public servants appeared in the Public Service Journal from 1915 onwards. They were often supplemented by obituaries of the men.

Pictured is a roll of honour which appeared in the June 1915 issue of the journal. As it notes the list is based on information reported to the public service commissioner. Below this list are obituaries for Sapper Garland Morgan and Lieutenant Harry Fftich. While Morgan had appeared in the commissioner’s list the previous month, Fftich had not. He had left the public service after being employed as a cadet. Morgan was still employed in the Pensions Department at the time of his death.

See transcription of all the obituaries that appear in the Public Service Journal from 1915.
