Replanting of Oak trees along Grimmond Avenue in Ross, to take place soon. Original trees were planted to perpetuate the memory of those who fell in active service from Ross in WWI. These were destroyed when recent mining took place. 20 trees will be put back along the Avenue to perpetuate the memory of those who fell in WWI, WWII, Boer War and for the returned servicemen and women of the Ross District.

John K Allen was my great uncle. In all the War records however his name is spelt as ALLAN.ALLEN is definitely correct. His name is also on the Town Clock in Hokitika.
