Taihape war memorial in 2008. The Taihape RSA don't know when the memorial was updated to include the Second World War names, but the Second World War 50th Anniversary Plaques were attached in 1995. The Korea, Malaysia and South Vietnam names were unveiled 25 April 1998. The 100th Anniversary of Boer War Plaque was unveiled 25 April 2000. Total names on Memorial is now 176 including 51 from the Second World War.

While there is reference to the Hon Sir R. Heaton Rhodes (Minister of Defence) leaving Wellington for Taihape on 25 April 1925 to 'unveil a war memorial' (see 'Personal Matters', Evening Post, 24 April 1925, p.8, a further search on Paperspast indicates that the Taihape War Memorial was unveiled by the Governor-General and his aide-de-camp Captain Boyle on 18 May 1927 - see 'Taihape War Memorial Unveiled', Manawatu Times, 18 May 1927, p.8.
