The New Zealand Tunnelling company is unique in our military history. The company existed only during the First World War and despite the fact that they were first on and last off the Western Front, this is the first memorial in New Zealand to be dedicated to them.
On completion the memorial will be made up of three components: a memorial wall; a 7.5m 'T' sculpture, and a soldier.
