The South African ('Boer') War memorial at Cooks Gardens in Whanganui in c1986. As well as paying tribute to the South African War dead, the memorial commemorates the coronation of King Edward VIII. The memorial was unveiled in December 1906, see related article in the Wanganui Herald (PapersPast).
