Muriel Berret McConnell was born about 1856 in Waterford, Ireland.
She had a son with John Henry Brown, a bailiff, in January 1878 and they were married in March of the same year. They had a further six children.
When she signed the suffrage petition, Muriel was living with her family in Castle St, Dunedin.
John died in 1903 and Muriel died on 3 July 1924. They are buried together in the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin.
