Lucy Emma Collins was born in 1867 in New Zealand - the daughter of James Collins, an engineer, and Emma Gill.
When she signed the suffrage petition Lucy was living with her family in Cumberland St, Dunedin.
She married John Tasman Church, a draper, on 5 January 1904 at St Peter’s Church, Wellington.
They had no children but did care for Lucy’s niece whose father had died when she was a baby.
John died in Wellington in 1937, Lucy later went to Australia where her widowed sister Lillian lived.
She died on 27 July 1940 at a private hospital in Brisbane, Queensland.
