Eleanor Croot was born in 1867 in New Zealand – the daughter of Charles Croot, a storeman, and Elizabeth Pearce.

Her father died in 1876 and when Eleanor signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Grosvenor St, Caversham, Dunedin.

Her sister Mary also signed (See 38 Mary Croot)

Eleanor died on 19 June 1944 in Dunedin – she was cremated and her ashes scattered.
