Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Grace Elizabeth Boyd Davidson was born in 1866 in New Zealand, the daughter of Andrew Davidson, a station master, and Mary Mackay.
When she signed the suffrage petition, Grace was living with her parents in Sawyers Bay, Dunedin and working as a dressmaker. Her sister Barbara also signed the petition.
On 28 January 1903, Grace married Alexander Douglas, a bank officer, at her parent’s house. They had two children and lived for a time in Dunedin, then in Clinton in South Otago.
Douglas died in Dunedin in 1921. Grace also died in Dunedin on 24 February 1936. They are both buried in the Clinton Cemetery in South Otago.
