Matilda Irvine Jamieson was born about 1836 in County Derry, Ireland.

She emigrated to Otago in 1878 on the Invercargill with her seven children and settled in Dunedin.

When Matilda signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Melbourne St, South Dunedin.

She died at her home in North East Valley on 16 February 1920 and is buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
