Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Frances Lawson was born in 1868 in New Zealand – the daughter of Edward Lawson, a miner, and Sarah Ross.

She married Arthur William Tyndall, a school teacher, on 24 December 1889 at her parent’s home in Forth St, Dunedin.

They had four children and when Frances signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Blue Spur, near Lawrence.

In 1910 they moved to Middlemarch before retiring to Dunedin where Arthur died in 1939, he was cremated.

Frances died in Christchurch on 2 May 1961, her place of burial is unknown.
