Jessie Wilson was born in 1858 in New Zealand – the daughter of Andrew Smith Wilson, a druggist, and Margaret Matheson.
She married Louis Charles Alexander McFarlane, a labourer, in 1877 and they had 10 children.
When Jessie signed the suffrage petition the family was living in Grange St, Dunedin.
Louis died in 1923 and Jessie died on 25 August 1942, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
