Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Alice Mary Snow was born in 1863 in Victoria, Australia – the daughter of Jonathan Snow and Martha Hellewell.

Her mother died in 1866 and, in 1872, Alice sailed for Otago on the Tararua with her brother and sister. (See 110 Emily Innes)

Alice married Alexander McLeod, a butcher, on 8 February 1888 at her uncle’s home 'Willowbank', Outram.

They had three children and when Alice signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Mosgiel near Dunedin.

Alexander died in 1931 and Alice died on 25 May 1944, they are buried together in the West Taieri Cemetery.
