Biography contributed by Mrs Colyn Storer (nee Morley) of Sydney Australia. Her husband George Henry Morley was the older brother of my grandfather Rev Dr William Morley 1842-1926.

Jenefer was born on 8 Oct 1843 at Mulgoa NSW, daughter of Vincent Walters and Ann Sandy and baptised at Parramatta Wesleyan church, 19 March 1844. Although her birth certificate shows Jennifer Walters, she always used the Cornish spelling of Jenefer.

Her parents who were born and married in Cornwall emigrated to NSW in 1838, then to New Zealand in 1848, where they lived at Shortland St then Wakefield St Auckland.  Her father bought his first farm at Waiuku in 1854.  They were devout Wesleyan church members, at Parnell and Waiuki.

Jenefer and George Henry Morley 1838-1923 signed their intention to marry on 8 June 1867. Theirs was the first wedding at Waiuku Wesleyan church on 16 June. They were also committed Wesleyan church members and the church and its work was central to their family and interests.

They had nine children, Mary Ann died at 6 days, William, Charlotte Mary later Boag who also signed the Petition, Francis, George Edwin, Mabel, Jenefer Ann, Ada and Sylvia Winifred. They all married and their grandchildren were a great joy to them.

There are many photos of family occasions, especially weddings. George and Jenefer celebrated their Golden Wedding at their home at Pukekohe in 1917, with a son, four daughters, grandchildren and George’s sisters Mary and Emma.

They lived in Auckland and Mangapai and then on their farm at Waiuku. She was at Pupuke in 1893. About 1914 they settled at Pukekohe where they were faithful members of and regularly worshipped at the Methodist church. After George died in 1923, Jenefer returned to Waiuku to live with her daughter Mabel where she died on 3 June 1925. George and Jenefer were buried at Wesleyan section of Pukekohe Public Cemetery. Her will dated 25 May 1925 passed probate in Auckland on 13 July.

Her sisters-in-law also signed the Petition: H W Morley (Hannah Watson, nee Buttle) Mt Roskill Sheet 18, Morley (Mrs Unica Ann), Sheet 18 and Emma Grey Patrick (nee Morley) Takapuna, Sheet 407.
