Mary Ann was born about 1865 in Ireland and was married to Peter Peterson, a seaman.
She was probably the Mary Ann Power that married Peter Peterson in 1887 in New Zealand.
They had several children and when Mary signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Athol Place, Dunedin.
Peter died in 1925 and Mary died on 19 August 1939, the are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
