Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Jessie Sandeman was born in Scotland around 1853 and she came to New Zealand in about 1869.
She married George Randall, a painter, in 1878. They had no children.
When she signed the suffrage petition Jessie was living with George in Grange St, Dunedin. Her sister Euphemia also signed the petition.
In 1914 Jessie applied for a separation and maintenance order against her husband. George was described as 'guilty of persistent cruelty, and was a habitual inebriate.' George did not appear and the order was granted.
George died in the Benevolent Home, Dunedin in 1924 and Jessie died on 24 April 1926. She is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery with her sister.
