Mary Simpson was born about 1841 in Glasgow, Scotland.

She had, at least, two daughters, (See 40 Minnie Simpson) when she emigrated to Otago in the 1870s.

When Mary signed the suffrage petition she was living in Josephine Street in Caversham, Dunedin.

Mary died at Minnie’s home in Timaru on 29 January 1937 – she is buried in the Southern Cemetery, Dunedin with her daughter Agnes Roberts.
