Leila Harriett Stainton (nee Langford) was the fifth and youngest daughter of John Alfred Langford and his wife Harriett (nee Bates) who came to New Zealand aboard the Aurora in 1840. Leila was born in Auckland in 1856 and married Frederick Bond Stainton in 1887. In 1896, her husband accidentally drowned in the Tamaki River, Papakura aged 32.
Her mother Harriett Langford and Aunt - Caroline Davies signed the petition at the same time.
