Construction at Ōhakea air base

Construction at Ōhakea air base

The scaffolding and form work for the concrete roof of No. 3 hangar under construction at Ōhakea air base, circa April 1939. Once completed, this structure was winched along rails to its final construction position left of the operations building.

Thanks Glen. I've amended the caption accordingly. If you're interested, this IPENZ report provides more information on the construction of Ōhakea's hangars.

The title states that this picture is the construction of No3 Hangar at Ohakea. This is not the hangar. This is the scaffolding and form work for the concrete of the hangar - on tracks. The actual hangar is around to the left of the picture of the main Operations/control tower building.
