Rededication of Public Trust Office roll of honour boards

Rededication of Public Trust Office roll of honour boards

When the Public Trust moved from its building on the corner of Lambton Quay and Stout St in Wellington to new premises next door in 1982, its roll of honour boards were removed and later put into storage. During the centenary of the First World War, staff of the Public Trust began to think about where they could be displayed. Following discussions with the Ministry for Culture and Heritage, which was to move into the former Public Trust Office building in October 2015, and the building’s owner, the boards were reinstalled on the ground floor. A rededication ceremony in February 2016 was led by the ministry’s chief executive, Paul James. Wellington Mayor Celia Wade Brown and Public Trust Chief Executive Bob Smith spoke to an audience of ministry and Public Trust staff and representatives of the Returned and Services’ Association. State Services Commissioner Iain Rennie laid a wreath and the Last Post and Rouse was played by Leading Aircraftswoman Sarah Henderson, Royal New Zealand Air Force.
