Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Agnes Currie was born in 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of John Currie, a produce merchant, and Mary Hartley. (See 43 Mary Currie)

She grew up in Oamaru and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Thames St, Oamaru.

Agnes married John Easterby Waterworth, a tailor, in 1904 – they had twin daughters later that year.

Shortly after their birth, on 11 December Agnes died – she is buried in the Karori Cemetery.

John remarried in 1907 – his place and date of death is unclear.
