Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Agnes Geggie was born on 15 September 1855 at Kinkell, Aberdeenshire – the daughter of John Geggie and Ann Mary Petrie. (See 106 A Geggie)

She emigrated to Otago with her parents in 1856 on the Strathmore and they settled on the family farm 'Mount Belleview' in the Puerua district.

She married James Lamond, a stock dealer and farmer, in 1876 in the Balclutha Parish.

They had 10 children, one who died in infancy and lived at Willowmeade farm in the Puerua district where Agnes signed the suffrage petition.

In later life they retired to live near their daughter in Manaia near Hawera in the North Island.

James died at Hawera in April 1929 and Agnes died shortly after on 3 July the same year.

They are buried together in the Manaia Old Lawn Cemetery.
