Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Agnes Reid was born on 24 November 1859 in New Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire, Scotland – the daughter of John Reid, a coal miner, and Sarah Sloan. (See 80 Sarah Reid)
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1863 on the Victory and they settled in the Tokomairiro district.
Agnes married William Lockhart on 22 December 1882 in the Tokomairiro parish.
They had three children and lived in Kelso in South Otago before William died in Milton in 1887, he is buried in the Fairfax Cemetery, Milton.
When Agnes signed the suffrage petition she was living in Milton. She died there on 25 December 1931 and is buried, presumably with William, in the Fairfax Cemetery.
