Agnes married George Frederick Mayhew, a compositor, on 9 February 1874 in Dunedin and they had six children, two who died in infancy.

When Agnes signed the suffrage petition she gave her address as Union St, Dunedin and was working as a ladies’ nurse although the family home was in Serpentine Avenue.

George died in 1914 and Agnes died on 21 August 1936, they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
