Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Alexina Christina Donald was born on 9 June 1873 in Aberdeen, Scotland – the daughter of Robert Donald, a mason, and Mary Walker. (See 126 Mary Donald)

She emigrated to Otago in 1874 with her family on the Parsee - they lived at first in Sawyers Bay, near Dunedin before moving to Purekireki in the Owaka Valley about 1884, where they had a farm.

This is where Alexina signed the suffrage petition.

She married Wallis Spencer Reddell, a tailor, in 1897 and they had seven children, three who died in infancy.

They lived, at first, in Oamaru then moved to Dunedin and then to Christchurch in the 1920s.

They ended their days in Auckland where Alexina died on 15 December 1943 and Wallis died the following year, they are buried together in the Waikaraka Cemetery.
