Biographical information provided by Briar Barry for the He Tohu exhibition:

Hannah (Anna) Maria Doble married Francis (Frank) Lok in 1874. Her husband had emigrated from Belgium around 1872 and he worked in Christchurch as a yardman. The couple had at least three children – John Francis Doble Lok, Frederick Ernest Lok and Minnie Anna Doble Lok. Frederick died from influenza while training for First World War military service in Featherston.
