Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Annie Selina Eason was born in 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of Frederick William Eason, a wool classer, and Margaret Fernie Miller. (See 94 Margaret Eason)
When she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Manse St, Kaikorai, Dunedin working as a fancy box maker.
She married George Barrington Agnew, a carpenter, at her parent’s home on 16 April 1900 and they had four children, one who was stillborn.
They lived, at first, at Katea near Owaka before moving to Dunedin then later to Milton.
They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in April 1950 – Annie died at Balclutha on 8 May 1950 and George died in 1960.
They are buried in the Balclutha Cemetery.
