Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Ann/Annie Fairbairn was born on 19 March 1856 in Edinburgh, Scotland – the daughter of Thomas Fairbairn, a bootmaker, and Elizabeth Simpson. (See 139 Mrs Fairbairn)
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1858 on the Jura and they settled in Dunedin.
Annie married James Inglis, a farmer, on 24 April 1874 and they had 13 children.
When she signed the suffrage petition the family were living at Highcliff on the Otago Peninsula.
They later retired to Dunedin where Annie died on 6 July 1917 and James died in 1932.
They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
