Bethia Jane Strang was born in 1868 in New Zealand - the daughter of James Strang, a carpenter, and Barbara Lawson Brown. (See 42 Mrs Strang)

Bethia married Ralph Guthrie Waldie, a chemist, on 27 March 1891– they had no children.

When Bethia signed the suffrage petition they were living in Cargill Rd, South Dunedin.

Bethia died on 17 July 1931 and Ralph died in 1937, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
