Barbara Rodger was born in New Zealand in 1871 – the daughter of William Rodger, a farmer, and Amelia.

When Barbara signed the suffrage petition she was living with her widowed mother and siblings at Broomhill near Broad Bay on the Otago Peninsula.

Barbara married John Arthur Adams, a baker, in 1914 – they had no children.

John died in 1948 and Barbara died on 29 June 1954, she was cremated and her ashes buried with John in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
