Ada Bush was born in 1871 in Romford, Essex – the daughter of William John Bush, a canvas repairer, and Sarah Ann Watts.

She emigrated to Otago in 1874 on the Otago with her family and they settled in Dunedin. When Ada signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Mornington working as a telephonist.

Ada married Charles Jamieson at Oamaru on 18 December 1902, they had no children. Charles died in 1910 in Caversham, Dunedin, he is buried in the Northern Cemetery.

She then married Robert Bagnall in 1911. Ada died on 22 October 1947 at Brighton, south of Dunedin. She is buried in the Green Island Cemetery with her nephew. Robert died in 1948 and he is buried in the Northern Cemetery.
