Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Catherine Boyne was born in 1858 in Victoria, Australia – the daughter of Robert Boyne and Helen McCulloch. (See 107 Helen Boyne)

In 1862 Catherine sailed for Otago on the Aldinga with her mother and siblings, her father had presumably gone earlier.

The family settled in Queenstown where her father was a successful storekeeper.

Catherine married William Henderson, a bootmaker, on 29 December 1885 in Queenstown.

They had six children and when Catherine signed the suffrage petition the family was living in Kew, Dunedin.

William died at their home in 1926 and Catherine died on 23 September 1929, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
