Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Caroline Violet Dix was born about 1866 – the daughter of John and Catherine Dix.
She married Robert Ferguson, a compositor, at Knox Church, Dunedin on Christmas Day of 1890 and they had three children.
When she signed the suffrage petition Caroline was living in Maitland St, Dunedin – the family later moved to the corner of George and Duke Streets.
This is where Caroline died on 15 January 1915, aged 49. She is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery. Robert died in 1933 and his ashes are buried in the same grave.
