Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Catherine Evans was born about 1858 in Ireland and arrived in New Zealand about 1877. In 1881 she married Robert Mustard, a joiner from Scotland. The couple had eight children, the last in 1895.

In 1896 the family were selling 'a five roomed house, nearly new, two sections Brunswick St' (now known as Loyalty Street).

They moved to Roslyn in 1896 and, in 1911, were at 5 Hart Street where Catherine lived for the rest of her life.

Robert died in 1926 and Catherine on 9 March 1933, they are buried in the Southern Cemetery, Dunedin.

After Catherine’s death the property disposed of was :

5 Hart St, Roslyn, 7 roomed kauri villa

2 ½ acre freehold property, Epsilon St, Roslyn

½ acre property at Karitane.
