Biographical information provided by Briar Barry for the He Tohu exhibition:

Charlotte Matilda Amesbury (nee Hookam) was born around 1854. She married David Ebenezer Amesbury and lived in Fielding where she worked as a dressmaker, presumably alongside her daughter Agnes Mable Amesbury, who signed the Petition below Charlotte. Her husband was originally a farmer but was declared bankrupt in 1884. By 1886 his profession is listed in the Electoral Roll as taxidermist. Charlotte died on 16 May 1935.
