Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Christina Goudie was born about 1844 in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of Alexander Goudie, a ship's carpenter, and Christina Drummond.

Christina emigrated to Canterbury on the Canterbury with her father, step mother and six siblings in 1874.

She married John Brown, a widower with seven children, in 1878. They had two children, one of whom died in infancy.

When she signed the suffrage petition, Christina and her family were living in St Helliers Court, Caversham Rise, Dunedin. John was working as a traveller. Christina also signed Sheet 65.

John died in 1897 and Christina died on 29 March 1918. They are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery, Dunedin.
