Amelia Saunders was born in 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of John Saunders and Mary Rudd.
She married Thomas Alexander Dale, a boilermaker, in 1888 and they had four children.
When Amelia signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Maclaggan St, Dunedin.
They later ran a boarding house in North Dunedin.
Thomas died in 1928 and Amelia died on 30 June 1953 – they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
